What is the Self-Reliant Diver course?

Self-Reliant Diver is a three-dive PADI specialty course for experienced divers who want stronger planning, redundancy and independent problem-solving skills.

The course addresses the risks of independent diving while building skills that can also make you a more capable member of a buddy pair or dive team.

Develop stronger self-sufficiency without losing respect for risk.

Course Format

How the three-dive Self-Reliant Diver course works.

Current PADI course information describes three Self-Reliant Diver training dives, preceded by an instructor skills assessment.

How much experience is required?

Participants must be at least 18, hold Advanced Open Water Diver certification and have at least 100 logged dives.

Yes. A PADI Self-Reliant Diver Instructor must complete a skills assessment before the course dives.
