Planning to Take Rescue Diver?

EFR satisfies the CPR + First Aid prerequisite.

PADI Rescue Diver requires qualifying CPR and First Aid training completed within the previous 24 months. Emergency First Response can be completed with BPDC before beginning your in-water Rescue training.

Scheduling is flexible.

There is no fixed public start and finish time. BPDC will coordinate your EFR training schedule when arranging the course.

Do I need to be a scuba diver to take EFR?

No. Emergency First Response is open to divers and non-divers. No scuba certification is required.

What does Emergency First Response teach?

Does EFR make me a professional first responder?

EFR provides CPR, First Aid and emergency-response training designed to help you respond confidently when an emergency occurs. It is not a professional emergency-services qualification.

How long does the EFR course take?

The course is normally completed in approximately one training day. Exact scheduling is coordinated with BPDC.

What is the minimum age?

BPDC accepts students from age 12 for Emergency First Response training.

What is the maximum class size?

BPDC limits EFR training groups to a maximum of six students per instructor.

Is there a minimum number of students?

No. There is no minimum number of students required for the course to operate.

Does EFR satisfy the Rescue Diver prerequisite?

Yes. Emergency First Response provides the CPR and First Aid training required for PADI Rescue Diver.

Why would Rescue Diver take three days instead of two?

A student who does not already have qualifying CPR and First Aid training from within the previous 24 months can complete EFR first. This adds approximately one training day before the two-day Rescue Diver practical course.

Is GST included in the $185 price?

No. A 12.5% Government Sales Tax is additional, bringing the course total to $208.13 USD including GST.
